How to import your converted .QBO file into QuickBooks

1. Download & test the free 10-row .QBO file

Load your CSV or Excel statement above, verify that Money Out (-) and Money In (+) match your statement summary, and export the first 10 transactions for free.

2. QuickBooks Online: Transactions → Bank transactions → Upload transactions

Select your .QBO file, pick the matching bank or credit card register in QuickBooks Online, and review transactions in the For Review tab with Check # and full 255-char Memo intact.

3. QuickBooks Desktop (active 3-year window): File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files

Select the .QBO file and link it to an existing bank or credit card account. If your QuickBooks Desktop is older than 3 years and blocks Web Connect, switch to our .QBO → IIF tab above.

Why raw bank CSV uploads fail in QuickBooks (and how BankFilePro fixes them)

Import Error / SymptomTechnical Root CauseHow BankFilePro Resolves It Locally
QuickBooks Error OL-222 / OL-301 on importUnescaped ampersands (&), smart quotes, non-ASCII characters, or missing INTU.BID tag.Automatically escapes SGML entities (&), strips invalid CHARSET:1252 control bytes, and injects a verified INTU.BID (default 3000).
Credit card charges imported as positive paymentsAmex, Citi, and Capital One CSVs often export purchases as + numbers and payments as - numbers.Auto-detects positive-heavy credit card files and warns you to check "Flip +/- signs" before exporting.
Missing Check # and truncated vendor descriptionsQuickBooks native 3-column CSV importer drops Check # columns, while OFX <NAME> truncates at 32 characters.Writes Check # into <CHECKNUM>, clean 32-char payee into <NAME>, and preserves up to 255 characters in <MEMO>.
Bank summary headers or "Total" row corrupt the importChase, Wells Fargo, and regional banks prepend 2–6 account summary lines or append a Total row.Smart table scanner automatically skips preamble headers and trailing summary rows before mapping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my bank CSV or Excel statements uploaded to any server?

No. Every byte of your CSV, XLSX, QIF, or QBO file is parsed and converted inside your browser memory using client-side JavaScript. Zero financial rows or account numbers are ever transmitted over the network.

What is INTU.BID 3000 and do I need to match my exact bank?

INTU.BID is the Financial Institution ID QuickBooks checks inside a Web Connect (.QBO) header. Code 3000 (Wells Fargo) is universally accepted by QuickBooks Online and supported QuickBooks Desktop versions regardless of which real-world bank issued your CSV, and you can still link the import to any bank account register in QuickBooks.

Why test with 10 rows for free first?

QuickBooks versions vary widely (QBO Simple Start/Plus, Desktop Pro/Premier/Enterprise, Mac, or older sunsetted editions). Exporting the first 10 real rows from your own statement lets you confirm 100% compatibility inside QuickBooks before unlocking unlimited rows for $9/month.

What if my QuickBooks Desktop says Web Connect is discontinued?

Intuit disables .QBO Web Connect imports on QuickBooks Desktop editions after their 3-year sunset date (such as Desktop 2018–2023). Use our ".QBO → IIF" converter in the top bar to generate a balanced double-entry .IIF file that imports directly without Web Connect.
